Death has removed another good pioneer citizen from our midst, in the person of Mr. Edmond Laperouse, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at his late residence on Providence between Madison and Field streets, after a brief illness. Deceased was a native of New Orleans, where he first saw the light of day on the 24th day of April in the year 1814. He resided here for a great many years, and was always a quiet, honest, peaceful gentleman and was well known and held in high esteem by almost every one in this community, especially on the part of the older citizens. Mr. Laperouse leaves a wife and children, besides grand-children and numerous relatives and friends here and else-where to mourn his untimely death. Funeral services were held in the St. Peter's Catholic Church on Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock and interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery at this place. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer.
