Lobdell, of Company I, Hood's regiment, died at his old home, among his relatives, in West Baton Rouge. Lieut. Lobdell was in the prime of life and was a dashing officer who had done gallant service at Santiago, where his command was ordered and where it is still doing service. it was while on duty that Lieut. Lobdell's health became so impaired as to subsequently cause his death. His untimely death is mourned by a surviving widow and three children, who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
