After an illness of several weeks all that was mortal of Mrs. J. A. Loreau, nee Arasie Dugas passed to the Great Beyond at her home in this City on Monday, June 2nd at 4:20 P. M. Mrs. Loreau was a native of Breaux Bridge and after her marriage took up her residence with her husband at Loreauville where she reared a large family. The town of Loreauville was named after her deceased husband. Some years ago the deceased removed to New Iberia which she made her home until the time of her death. Her unsullied life, filled with good and charitable acts, and her natural sweetness of character had naturally surrounded her not only with her grand-children, but also with a host of warm friends. Her devotion to her family, was proverbial, hence the loss of this worthy relative cast a gloom that cannot be replaced in her household. She was a sister of Mrs. U. S. Hasse and a half sister of Miss Louisa Chagnan. Among her grand-daughters and sons are Mrs. L. B. Howard of Coushatta, Mrs. E. H. Simmins of Houston, Texas; Miss Lalia Dauterive of this City, and Messrs. J. Loreau Dauterive of Havana, Cuba; Paul A. Dauterive of Corpus Christi, Texas; A. A. Dauterive of New Orleans and Mr. Stanley Ribbeck of New Iberia. The funeral rites were conducted by Rev. Langlois at St. Peter's Catholic church in the presence of a large concourse of sympathetic friends on Tuesday, June 3d at three o'clock. CARD OF THANKS. June 7th, 1919 We take this means to extend to the friends of our deceased grand-mother, Mrs. J. A. Loreau, our heartfelt appreciation for all kindness rendered to her during her illness and death which occurred on June 2d. Especially do we wish to extend thanks to Rev. Langlois for his consoling words of comfort in the hour of our affliction. Grand-children of Mrs. J. A. Loreau.
