DEATH OF LEON LOZES.

The sudden death of Mr. Leon Lozes at his plantation, "Solitude" last 
Thursday night at 9 o'clock was a great shock to his friends in New Iberia 
and the surrounding country. Mr. Lozes had apparently been in the best of 
health up to the time of his demise. The gentleman had just retired when a 
stroke of illness overtook him causing him to sit [faded] chair when he 
suddenly expired. Deceased was born in Manciers, Gers. France on July 27th, 
1842 and came to this country a number of years ago when he was joined into 
wedlock with Widow Terville Landry. His step-children are Messrs. Tervlle 
and Henry Landry and Mrs. Felix Romero, who together with the widow mourn 
his loss. Mr. Lozes was a member of the Societe de Bienfaisance organization 
of this City the membership of which followed his remains to St. Peter's 
Catholic church yesterday afternoon at four-thirty o'clock. His family have 
the sympathy of  a large circle of friends.

NECROLOGICAL.

Died at his home on Solitude plantation, in this parish, on Thursday night, 
Mr. Leon Lozes. He was a native of sunny France, but for long years a 
resident of this parish. He was 71 years old. The funeral services were held 
at St. Peters Catholic Church yesterday afternoon. His remains were 
accompanied to their last resting place by the members of the Société de 
Bienfaisance et d'Assistance Mutuelie and a large number of friends.
