[i.e. La.]) 1875-1898, December 06, 1890, English, Image 2 Died, at Avery's Island, at 7:30 o'clock, on Tuesday evening, Nov. 25th, Mr. Edmund McIlhenny, aged 75 years. Deceased had been a sufferer from asthma for many years and he died sitting in his chair at his business desk, where he had been attending to some correspondence. Mr. McIlhenny was the manufacturer of the world-renowned Tabasco Peper [sic] Sauce, and had been a resident of this parish for many years, always living at Avery's Island, being connected by marriage a sister of Gen. Dudley Avery and Senator John M. Avery. His widow and several sons and daughters survive him. His remains were buried in the family burial grounds on the island. - Iberia Enterprise.
