On Thursday Fausse Pointe lost one of its most esteemed citizens in the person of the venerable Mr. Charles Mestayer, Sr. Mr. Mestayer was born in 1826. His life was an ideal one. He was always glad to meet his friends, who also proved their good will of meeting him. He leaves to mourn their loss five sons and two daughters: Mrs. Eugene Darby and Mrs. Lewis Angers; Messrs Edgar, Fernand, Dennis, Meyer, and Charles Mestayer; and one brother and four sisiters: Mrs. Zenon Decuir, Mrs. P. A. Dupuy, Mrs. Oscar L. Darby, Mrs. John Greig, and Mr. Adolph Mestayer, Sr. The funeral will take place this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Loreauville. 2nd. The venerable and esteemed Mr. Charles Mestayer, almost a life-long resident of the Fourth Ward of this Parish passed to the Great Beyond last Thursday night at about 10 o'clock, surrounded by his large family of children ad (sic) grand-children, after several months serious illness. Mr. Mestayer was born in the year 1826 and almost continuously since reaching his manhood engaged in farming and he was known to be a gentleman of sterling worth to his community and highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He leaves to mourn his loss Messrs. Charles Mestayer, Jr., Fernand and Edgar and other relatives. The funeral will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Loreauville this morning at 11 o'clock.
