A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Eugene Migues, the 
former Dorothy “Dot” Dartez, age 76, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 
2016, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter 
officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday with a rosary at 
7 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday until the service 
time.

A native of Kaplan and resident of New Iberia, Dorothy passed away at 4:12 
p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her 
loving family.

Born on July 31, 1940, to the late Mitchel and Aurelia Guidry Dartez, she 
was one of 11 children. Dorothy was a compassionate and loving woman who 
opened her home and heart to everyone. She had an open door policy and was 
happy to invite people over to join her for coffee, conversation, or her 
famous chicken stew. To many children around the neighborhood, Dorothy was 
known as “Mama D” or “Granny.” She made it a point to be available for 
anyone who was in need. Dorothy also enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was 
a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. Dorothy will 
be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Eugene Migues; children 
Gregory Paul Migues and wife Lisa of New Iberia, Eugenia “Gina” M. Meyers of 
New Iberia, and Ron Mitchell Migues of New Iberia; siblings Ouida Hardin of 
Lake Charles, Irene Roberts of New Iberia, and Alexander Dartez of Metairie; 
grandchildren Brittney Migues, Seth Ryan Migues, Jinna Meyers, Brennan 
Meyers, Jardi Migues and Taylor Touchet, and great grandchildren Kohen, 
Kyzer, Nathan, Tucker, Maddix and Ross.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Allen Migues; parents Mitchel 
and Aurelia Guidry Dartez; and siblings Edola Romero, Hazel Smith, Nervine 
Seward, Audrey Chaffin, Louis Dartez, Percy Dartez and Rolan Dartez.

Pallbearers will be Greg Migues, Ron Migues, Seth Migues, Brennan Meyers, 
Kurt Delahoussaye and Kasey Thibodeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Veazey, Timmy Meyers and Dakuiry 
Palmisano.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of Iberia 
Medical Center, Home Health of Acadiana and Acadian Hospice for their 
support during the past few months.

Evangeline Funeral Homes Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
