(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, November 01, 1913, Image 3 Died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Gall O. Pharr on Spanish Lake on Tuesday Oct. 28th, 1913 at 10:35 o'clock A. M., Mrs. (Capt.) Thos. L. Morse nee Emma E. Reeves, born March 27th, 1850 at Jefferson, Texas. The funeral obsequies were held from the Presbyterian church Rev. Paradis officiating on Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock Mrs. Morse had been a resident of this City and Morgan City almost continuously since her marriage to Capt. Thos. L. Morse, the retired head of the Southern Pacific water craft of the State. She was survived by her husband, Capt. Morse, three sons and two daughters, Messrs. Thos. R. the Postmaster of this City and Ed. and Alexander Morse and Mrs. Gall O. Pharr of Spanish Lake and Mrs. Pickett now a resident of Alexandria. source: The Weekly Iberian. (New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, November 01, 1913, Image 3 NECROLOGICAL. - MRS. THOS. L. MORSE. - Some months ago the health of Mrs. Thos. L. Morse was such that it prompted Capt. T. L. Morse to give up his home at Morgan City and return to his old home in this city, on St. Peters street. Later, this home was given up and Mrs. Morse went up to Burke station to be with her eldest daughter, Mrs. G. O. Pharr. On Tuesday morning at 10:35 o'clock the angel or (sic) death released her spirit from its earthly bondage. When the end came she was surrounded by her children. She was born Emma E. Reese, at Jefferson, Texas, March 27th, 1850. The funeral services took place from the Presbyterian church in this city on Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, attended by a large number of the relatives, friends and acquaintances of the family. Mrs. Morse is survived by her husband, Capt. Thos. L. Morse; her daughters, Mrs. G. O. Pharr of Burke station, this parish; Mrs. S. R. Pickett, of Alexandria; her sons, Mr. Thos. R. Morse postmaster, this city; and R. Alex Morse, now in California.
