After battling with death for ten days or more, and making repeated rallies when the end seemed only a question of hours, General Frederick F. Myles died in his apartments at the Grunewald Hotel, at 5:15 o'clock Thursday evening, and the passing was easy and gentle. He had been unconscious for several days, and his indomitable will which so long sustained him was practically exhausted. General Myles had been ill for some time, but it was only a fortnight ago, that his gout developed serious complications. The doctors held out small hope for his recovery from the first, but the rallies he sustained caused them to believe his robust constitution might ultimately offset the attack of the disease. The final turn for the worse came several days ago, and the general was unconscious most of the time. The end which came Thursday evening was not unexpected, and the devoted relatives who had so long watched by General Myles' beside were prepared for the shock. General Myles is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Claude D. Liebman, of Port Gibson; two brothers, Beverly B. Myles, of New Orleans; Dr. Robert C. Myles, of New York; a sister, Mrs. J. M. C. Martin, of Port Gibson, Miss, and a number of other relatives. - Times-Picayune.
