He had been in public life for the past twenty years, and had held the positions of deputy clerk of court, justice of the peace and notary public. About two years ago he purchased the Herald newspaper and entered upon a journalistic career, in which he was very successful. On Sunday evening December 10th at 8 o'clock our esteemed friend and fellow worker in the journalistic world, Oliver Henry O'Bryan passed into that great beyond from whence no traveler has never yet returned. Mr. O'Bryan though confined to his room for some time, endured patiently his confinement to the end. The deceased at the time of his death had only reached the noon of life, being only 43 years of age. His success in the publication of the Herald, one of the live and up-to-date publications of the Southwest, has won for him, the high esteem of the united press of the State. While at the helm of the Herald, did he ever forego the opportunity of advancing the common interest of this section. His paper was a power for good in the upbuilding of the morals of this section. His, is therefore an irreparable loss not only to this section, but throughout the confines of the State. His entire life work was spent here among his own people, wherein his genius first saw the light of the purple dawn. The funeral service was held at the Catholic Church, attended by a host relatives and friends. Tbe (sic) Idea (sic) joins the deep sympathy of the entire community in behalf of the sorrowin.
