This community was very much shocked last Thursday evening upon learning of 
the death at New Orleans of Hon. Robert A. Olivier, formerly of this Parish. 
Mr. Olivier was filling the responsible position at the above City as 
Assistant Appraiser, having held that important office for several years. 
For the past five years he was a sufferer of locomotia (sic) ataxia, an 
incurable disease and passed away at 6:15 o'clock p. m., surrounded by his 
wife and two children. Deceased was a native of this Parish, being born here 
in the year 1858 and for years following the ocupation (sic) of sugar 
planter. His remains were brought to New Iberia yesterday evening and 
interred in the Catholic cemetery in the presence of a large number of 
sympathetic relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his demise besides his 
wife and two children, several sisters, Mrs. A. Sorrel of this Parish, Mrs. 
Sidney Winchester of Morgan City and Miss Lucie Olivier of New Orleans. His 
family have the sympathy of the community.
