DEATH PARTS A DEVOTED COUPLE AFTER SIXTY-FOUR YEARS, BLESSFUL WEDLOCK. Mrs. Drauzin R. Perret, wife of a highly respected citizen of New Orleans, died yesterday at her residence, on Lafayette Avenue, near Dauphine Street. She sank the eternal sleep as calmly and as quietly as the dying glimmer of eventide fades and effaces itself before the advancing shadows of night when it o'erspreads the dark mantle of the heavens, studded with myriacs of twinkling stars, proclaiming that God is watching and waiting, and that the souls of the just and of the pure of heart will find their reward beyond the constellations in the refulgent realms of immortal peace and love. Mrs. Perret was 86 years of age, a native of St. Charles Parish and a resident of this city since 1853. She was throughout her long life an exemplar of the Christian virtues, a model daughter, wife and friend, and her excellent qualities in the family circle and in social life will be always remembered by all who knew her. In the heart of her venerable husband has grief and enableable sorrow emerged; for the couple had been tenderly, lovingly untied for sixty-four years, drifting down the declivity of this mundane existence with perfect accord and happiness, forgetful of the flight of time and hardy noticing the gradual approach of age, so deep and sincere was the mutual feeling of affection. The deceased, Zoe Brou, was the eldest daughter of Valsin Brou and of Genevieve Zeringue, and was related to some of the best families in southern Louisiana. She leaves, besides her aged husband, a brother, Mr. Camille Brou, residing in St. James Parish; three sisters, Mrs. Gustave Boasso, Miss Amenaide Brou and Mrs. Valcour Aime, of New Orleans, and many children and grandchildren. Three of her sons are well and favorably known in business circles, Messrs. Drauzin Perret, with Stauffer-Eshleman & Co., Mr. C. H. Perret, with Whitney, Sloo Co.,; and S. F. Perret, connected with the New Orleans, and Northeastern Railroad Company. She also leaves three daughters, Mrs. Widow J. O. Fasay and Misses Louise and Emma Perret. Mrs. Perret was the sister-in-law of Hon. P. E. St. Martin, formerly of St. Charles Parish, and at present residing in New Orleans.
