It becomes our painful duty to chronicle the death of Mrs. Pharr, widow of 
the late Captain Jno. N. Pharr. Mrs. Pharr died in New Orleans on Friday, 
January 17th, at the age of seventy-two years. Her remains will be laid to 
rest in New Iberia to-day.

Mrs. John N. Pharr, widow of the late Captain Pharr, Republican nominee for 
Governor in 1896, and mother of the present Republican candidate for 
Governor, died last week. Mrs. Pharr was prominent in W. C. T. U. circles 
and was a devout member of the M. E. Church.

Mrs. J. N. Pharr, widow of the late Capt. John N. Pharr, and mother of Henry 
N. Pharr, the Republican nominee for governor, died at her home on Fairview 
plantation, St. Mary parish.
