(New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, November 18, 1905, Image 3 DIED: At his residence in this city, on Monday afternoon at 5:20, the 13th inst, Chas. Sam'l Pointis age 48 years and 6 months. The funeral services took place at St. Peters Catholic Church on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, largelyly (sic) attended by old comrades and acquaintances. Mr. Pointis had been an invalid for several years, his ailments finally undermining his vitality and causing his death. He leaves a childless widow to revere his memory. Mr. Pointis was an active agent in public life as long as his health permitted. He was appointed a deputy sheriff by Capt. C. T. Cade, during the latter's first term of office, in which position he succeeded himself under variying (sic) administrations till the close of his life. He was a warm friend, a generous opponent and a loyal citizen. The Societe de Bienfaisance et D'Assistance Mutuelle and Iberia Lodge, No. 3155, Knights of Honor, of which orders the deceased was a member, apid their last tribute of respect to their departed brother.
