Mr. Poirson had been confined to his home at Jeanerette for several months, a sufferer from bright's disease and although his death was a great shock to the citizens of this Parish, his physicians held but little hope for his recovery. Deceased was a native of our sister town and was a son of the late Charles Poirson, also a worthy citizen of the above place. He held numerous positions of trust in his home town, and some years ago received the appointment of Assessor of the Parish, which position he filled with honor and credit. A few years later he accepted the appointment of Tax Collector under the administration of Sheriff Henderson and remained in the office until the expiration of Mr. Henderson's term. Being such a valuable and painstaking official when the office was officially turned over to Sheriff P. A. Landry, the trust was tendered again to Mr. Poirson, he remained there until his illness was such he was compelled to place himself under the care of a physician. The funeral was conducted from the St. Joseph Catholic church at Jeanerette on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of one of the largest out- pouring of friends ever assembled to pay tribute to the loss of one of its fellow-citizens. He leaves to mourn him besides his widow, and daughter Mrs. Sidney Hebert, one brother, Mr. Charles A. Poirson and two sisters, Mrs. A. L. Provost of Jeanerette and Mrs. Robert Hall of Beaumont. The Enterprise extends its condolences to the family.
