Died: Mrs. (widow) Chas. L. Poirson, Tuesday, August 13th. Aged 85 years, 10 
months and 3 days. Funeral services were held in St. John the Evangelist's 
church, the sacred edifice being crowded with friends who came to pay the 
last tribute of respect to a venerable and greatly beloved woman. Mrs. 
Poirson was Jeanerette's oldest citizen. She has been a resident of the town 
for 47 years and has seen it grow from a small hamlet to a thriving little 
city. She lived a noble and beautiful life, full of gentle service to those 
she loved, and was rewarded in her old age by the constant and venerated and 
friends. - Jeanerette Herald.
