Henry Clay Riggs died at his home in New Orleans on Thursday afternoon, November 20th. He was a son of Wm Riggs and was born in this city 57 years ago. After the death of his father he went to New Orleans with his elder brother, Adison, and established a cistern factory. He graduated from the law department of Tulane University, but did not long follow the profession. He was later identified with commercial and industrial enterprises. He was one of the founders of the New Orleans & St. Tammany Railway & Ferry Co., in which organization he was engaged up to the time of his last illness. He was a prominent figure in the politics of the Third Ward of the Crescent City for many years but never aspired to office holding for himself. He was one of the founders of the old Progressive Union, serving as a director for several years. He was prominent in the Mason orders, being a past master of Linwood Lodge and a member of Concord Chapter. He married Lilly Longnecker, the widow of Willoby. His funeral took place in New Orleans last Saturday.
