Last Monday morning the town was shocked to hear of the death, Sunday near mid-night, of Mr. Octave Romero, who had been a resident of Iberia Parish all of his life. He had been in poor health for some time, being troubled with a heart affection, but his death at this time was entirely unlooked for. Mr. Romero had always been connected in a close way with public affairs of this community, and his funeral, held from St. Peter's Catholic Church on Monday afternoon, was very largely attended. Besides his wife, Mr. Romero leaves to mourn his loss, six daughters, Mrs. F. O. Schwing, Mrs. Gilbert Hill, of Dallas, Mrs. Monroe Maurice and Mrs. E. A. Booth of Baton Rouge, Misses Marie and Lee Romero of Dallas. Two sons, Messrs. Louis Romero of Lafayette, and Ogden Romero of Baton Rouge.
