ROMERO. - Scarcely had the first pangs of grief subsided over the loss of a cherished member, that the family of Mrs. Devezin Romero was again stricken when Mr. J. D. Romero, after months of patient suffering, quietly passed away last Tuesday noon. A scion of one of the oldest and most prominent families of the Parish, Mr. Romero was intimately associated with this community and was ever ready to lend his efforts for the advance of its interests. Adopting farming as his life task, by intelligent work and progressive methods, he not only proved a success himself, but taught object lessons to his neighbors who also have been the beneficiaries of his talents. Several years ago, Mr. Romero was married to Miss Nellie Rader of Jeanerette, who remains, with four small children to mourn the loss and cherish the memory of the loving husband and devoted father. Besides these, he is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. Devesin Romero, five sisters, Mesdames P. C. Derouen, H. Patout, Sam Pointis and S. O. Nuckolls of Iberia Parish and Mrs. Sidney Perodin of Rayne: and four brothers, Messrs. O. P. Romero, Honora Romero, A. B. Romero and Oscar Romero, all progressive and substantial citizens of Iberia Parish.
