After a long and peaceful life of four score and six years Mrs. Mary Virginia Shaw passed away at her residence in Loreauville on Monday at ten thirty P. M. The deceased was a native of Franklin, La. having moved to Loreauville long before the Civil War. She was the wife of the late Dr. Angus Shaw, one of the early and esteemed physicians of Iberia parish. The surviving children are Miss Flo and Miss May, who reside at the old family home in Loreauville, Dr. Guy Shaw of Loreauville, and Dr. J. W. K. Shaw of New Iberia. The funeral took place Tuesday at 5 P. M. at the Presbyterian Church and was attended by a lagwe [sic] number of relatives and friends. Among the relatives was her sister, Miss Kate Johnson, from Franklin, who has passed the age of 84. Rev. Paradis paid highest tribute to the beautiful character and life pf the deceased whose every word, look, and action reflected the true Christian womanhood in her heart. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. M., Mrs. Mary Virginia Shaw wife of the Angus G. Shaw, M. D. This venerable lady had reached her eighty-sixth year and enjoyed the high esteem of a large circle of friends. She leaves to mourn her demise, two sons and two daughters, among them Dr. Guy A. Shaw of Loreauville and our fellow- citizen Dr. J. W. K. Shaw and a number of grand children. The remains were brought to New Iberia on Tuesday and the burial services performed by Rev. Mr. Paradis at the Presbyterian church at four o'clock P. M. in the presence of friends of the family.
