OBITUARY: source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, June 20, 1914, Image 5 MRS. ARUNS SORREL. After months of painful though uncomplaining sufferings, the gentle spirit of Mrs. Aruns Sorrel was released last Saturday to enter the realms of peace and happiness to which a well spent life entitled her. Born of one of the most distinguished families of the State, the decedent was reared here in Iberia Parish, amidst the affluent splendor which surrounded the old plantation homes; and as Miss Marie Olivier, held social sway over the elite of her day, and as mistress of her husbands splendid estates in St. Mary, was known as one of the most charming and hospitable of hostesses. When days of adversity came however, Mrs. Sorrel was in no way daunted and her intimates found in her naught but the loving wife and devoted mother, striving cheerfully to aid her husband and to minister to the wants of her children. The comforting knowledge of work well done was her happy lot during her declining years. At the family home near Olivier, her aged husband is bowed in grief which a loving daughter, Mrs. A. J. Cammack, sorrowfully seeks to assuage. Besides these two, an only surviving son, Mr. Solinge E. Sorrel of Olivier, remains to mourn her loss.
