(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 12, 1902, Image 3 On Tuesday was buried in New Iberia Mr.Marion Swain, and old resident of this city, who had been in indigent circumstances for some time. The services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Vaughn at the family lot in the Prostest (sic) Cemetery. Peace to his ashes. source: The Weekly Iberian. (New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, July 12, 1902, Image 3 Necrological. - All that was mortal of poor old Marion Swaim (sic) passed away on Sunday evening. He died in the Central Hotel on Main street in town, sourrounded (sic) by a few friends who did not forget him in his hour of death. Marion Swaim at one time was the wealthiest man in town, but the poor fellow died a pauper, and without even the knowledge of a single relative to communicate with. He was buried by those who remembered him in his palmiest days. The funeral rite was performed by the Rev. Robt. Vaughn of the Methodist Church.
