(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 16, 1904, Image 3 Last Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock the soul of Widow H. B. Smith, returned to its maker. After a long life of usefulness and christian example, life's fitful fever is ended. Deceased was the widow of Mr. H. B. Smith at one time a resident of St. Mary Parish, but for 35 years or more a resident of this parish, coming here when the new parish was young. Mr. Smith preceeded (sic) his wife by many years leaving her with the care of a large family, a trust which she fulfilled with the greatest care, raising her boys and girls, to good men and women, but recently one of those daughters passed ot (sic) the heavenly land. Mrs. Smith leaves a son, Mr. H. L. Smith, of Smith, DeBlanc & Suberbielle who is one of our most respected citizens and successful business men. Two daughters also are left behind who have done all that loving thoughtful care can do to make easy the rough places through life which came to their dear parent, who wanted for nothing that filial devotion could devise to make pleasant the declining years of the loved one. The funeral was from the home, on Centre street, the Rev. C. C. Kramer, officiating and a large body of sorrowing friends and acquaintances attending.
