DIED: At his residence, No. 729 Center St. on Tuesday Aug 22, 1905 at 5:30 a. 
m., John D. Walsh, born November 21, 1851. The funeral took place from the 
Catholic Church on Wednesday forenoon, Aug. 23, at 10 o'clock.

DEATH OF JOHN D. WALSH.

The death of this good citizen was a shock to this community. Mr. Walsh came
into this Parish about 25 years ago, settling on the farm in Fausse Pointe,
now owned by Capt. I. A. Bell, near Morbihan, where by his industry and
uprightness of life, he acquired the respect and confidence of his neighbors,
who recognized his sterling qualities by having him appointed as member of
the Police Jury for the 3d ward, a position which he filled acceptably, his
rare good horse sense being often called into requisition by his confreres.
Some nine years ago Mr. Walsh sold his farm and moved into our City and
became fully identified with its interests, buying property on Center street,
erecting thereon a handsome home and doing much to develop that popular
thoroughfare, always active and public spirited, his position on any public
question was always conservative and right. For the last year or so, Mr.
Walsh had been afflicted with a combination of complaints, which evaded the
skill of our best physicians and after months of suffering the end came at
last, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, about 10 o'clock A. M. The funeral
obsequies were held at the Catholic Church, Wednesday morning at 10 A. M.,
attended by a large number of friends and sorrowing relatives to whom we
extend our sincere sympathy.
