On last Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, Mr. Charles Conrad Weeks quietly passed away, surrounded by his devoted family. He had been ill for some weeks, first taken with a malarial fever. In the early part of last week his symptoms were considered alarming, and Miss H. S. Weeks, who was in Chicago, was telegraphed for. She arrived on Wednesday to find her father much better and all greatly encouraged at his improved condition. On last Saturday morning his symptoms again assumed an alarming character and he gradually sank till the end. Mr. Weeks was a native of this place, a respected citizen, a kind and loving husband and an indulgent father. He was sixty-eight years of age at his death. He was a slave owner before the war, and as an unostentatious tribute of the respect and esteem in which he was held by his old slaves, they came to gaze upon his peaceful countenance reposed in his last sweet sleep. The funeral services took place from the Epiphany Episcopal Church, on last Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. C. C. Kramer officiating. The pall- bearers were: Judge Don Foster, Messrs. L. O. Hacker, George M. Robertson, Maurice Galliand, A. B. Murray and E. F. Millard. The remains were placed at rest in the family plot in the Protestant Cemetary (sic).
