NECROLOGICAL.

MRS. JOS. H. WISE.

"Not dead, but sleeping."
"Night came releasing her from labor-
When a hand from out of darkness
Touch her and she slept."

Died, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Max Levy, on West St. Peters street, 
in this city, on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, Caroline Ehrman, the widow 
of Jos. H. Wise Age, 75 years.

She was a sister also of Mrs. David Levy of Manila and of the late Mrs. 
Adele Eisenmann of this city, and of Mr. Felix Ehrman, formerly of this 
city, who died at Panama in the early part of the year 1909.

Yesterday at noon the solemn procession was formed to escort the sacred dust 
of this noble woman to the Southern Pacific depot, thence to Lafayette, 
where her remains were laid to their last earthly rest in the Jewish 
cemetery beside those of her late and lamented husband.

She ran the journey of her life through a span far longer than that usually 
allotted to the children of this world. It is a past marked with deeds of 
kindness, love and cheer. Flowers, not thorns; sunshine, not shadows, did 
she scatter everywhere. With these she was lavish. Truth was the inspiration 
of her life and by kindness she exemplified its great worth. Denied in this 
life the blessings coming through the exercise of the mother love, she 
bestowed lavishly upon those nearest and dearest to her the most precious 
jewels of her soul, winning in return an affection from all nearest to that 
she had been denied.
