In the passing to the better land, the community, especially in the neighborhood of Duboin this parish, loses a most desirable character. Mrs. Young came to this Parish in the early seventies, and resided in New Iberia and Hulton Plantation for a short time, afterwards moving to Vermilion Parish, where Mr. Young purchased a farm, on which they lived and reared a most interesting family - but the old saying that "Those who drink of the Teche shall return", was true in their case, and some 15 years ago a home was purchased in this parish, about 3 miles south of New Iberia (the Stowitz Place) where they have since resided. The Youngs came here from Harrison, Ohio, adopting fair Louisiana as their state, and Evangeline section as their Home, where they have lived and prospered. No more loyal Louisianiana than they can be found. Those left behind to venerate her memory are our Old Veteran friend, Archie Young; William, of Lake Charles; Mrs. Nellie Alexander at the old Home; Archie, Jr., and Robert, all stalwart citizens of Louisiana, also numerous grand children. A noble woman, a good Christian mother, her life was a blessing and benediction, as example for all who knew her. She had lived 75 years the full scriptural limit, and died surrounded by her loved ones - in the home embowered in a beautiful grove, amid blooming flowers and fragrance of honeysuckle and magnolias, with the sweet notes of the mocking birds, night and day, wooing her to paradise. Remains were interred in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rev. Martin Hebert officiating.
