Williams, an extensive orange grower of Happy Jack, Plaquemines parish, La., was born in 1845, on the same plantation where he now lives. He is a son of William and Elizabeth Williams. William Williams was born in Connecticut and came to Louisiana when about fifteen years of age. He followed boating all of his life, being a pilot at the time of his death. He was also engaged in planting in connection with boating, and raised his family on his plantation. He married Miss Elizabeth Zigrose, a daughter of Smith Zigrose, who was born in Germany, and came to America with her parents when quite young. To Mr. and Mrs. Williams were born seven children, named as follows: Henry, now deceased; William, living in Plaquemines parish; Robert, who lives in the same parish; Felix A., our subject; Priscilla, the wife of Henry Herrick; Catherine, the wife of William Gannon, and Anna, who is also deceased. Felix A. Williams began life for himself at about the age of fourteen years, first working for others, and by two years of economy was able to start out for himself. That he has made a success of life, may be seen from the fact that he has accumulated 380 acres of land, 40 acres of which compose one of the finest orange groves in the parish. He was married to Miss Alice Cannon, daughter of C. J. and Elizabeth Cannon, and to them has been born one daughter, named Ethlynn. About four years ago Mr. Williams was chosen one of the police jurors of his parish, which position he has ably filled. He is a strong supporter of the Episcopal church, of which his wife is a worthy member. Mr. Williams is very well known in his parish, where he enjoys the highest respect of all.
