All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Crystal Devillier oneonone@cox.net December 27, 2006, 12:48 pm Source: Transcribed Court Document Written: March 23, 1798 Date: March 23, 1798 Family Meeting - Appeared: Anselme Blanchard; Antoine Blanchard; Joseph Mollere, paternal relatives of the late Gerome Blanchard; Pierre Clouatre; Joseph Clouatre; Jean Dupuy, husband of Marie Clouatre, widow of Gerome Blanchard; Bernard Capdevielle, maternal relatives; herein assembled to discuss the liquidation of the succession of the minor children, issue of the marriage of the late Gerome Blanchard, with Marie Clouatre, named: Anrieutte Blanchard, Carmelitte Blanchard and Gerome Blanchard, all three issue of the said marriage. That Jean Dupuy and Marie Clouatre, his wife with the consent of the relatives, would take the plantation of the late Gerome Blanchard, situated in this District on the right bank of the Mississippi river, adjacent above to the land of Francois Marionnaux and below to that of Pierre Clouatre, containing four arpents of front on the ordinary depth of forty, and the buildings which are found thereon at the price of the estimation which had been made the 3rd of August 1793; to pay to Pierre Clouatre sum of $333 the surplus which is $17 will remain half to the minor children of Gerome Blanchard and to his widow. That Jean Dupuy and Marie Clouatre, his wife, to take with the consent of the relatives and at the price of the estimation at the inventory made Aug. 3, 1793 by Pierre Clouatre and Honore Braud. A donkey goes to Jean Dupuy and his wife. That the animals and other objects which have been sold, would pay expenses of the succession. The minors were given by their grandfather, Anselme Blanchard, two negroes, estimated by the relatives. Jean Dupuy and his wife obligate themselves to render an account to the said minors at their majority or at their marriage. Understood that the negress Marie Anne belongs to Marie Clouatre.
