Date: July 7, 1793 Appeard Pierre Clouatre, as grand-father of the minors of the late Jerome Blanchard, who has delivered the effects of the decd. as ordered. Date: May 21, 1793 Inventory - A plantation situated in this District on the right bank of the Mississippi river, adjacent above to the lands of Francois Marion and below to that of Pierre Clouatre, containing four arpents of front on the ordinary depth of forty, the buildings, enclosures which might be thereon, in a word, such as the said plantation comprises and contains at present, which belongs to the Succession for having been purchased by the deceased of the said Clouatre according to that which is confirmed by the act of purchase deposited in the archives of this Commandant on the date of the 23rd of August 1791. The widow of Blanchard, has signed together with her brother-in-law, Antoine Blanchard and her father-in-law, Anselme Blanchard, and others, witnesses. Date: August 2, 1793 Appeared Mrs. Marie Clouatre, widow of Jerome Blanchard, decd. accompanied by Pierre Clouatre, her father and Antoine Blanchard and Joseph Mollere, her brothers-in-law, has declared that she appears by order of the Governor General dated June 28, past; and the Commandant declares that in the morning of the next day he would go on the plantation of Jerome Blanchard to proceed in conformity with the order. Date: August 3, 1793 By order of the Governor General dated June 28, past, and by acts foregoing, the Commandant proceeds with the new inventory, in presence of Antoine Blanchard, pateranl uncle, Pierre Clouatre, their grand-father, Joseph Mollere, their uncle by marriage. She is accompained by Pierre Clouatre, her father, Antoine Blanchard and Joseph Mollere, her brothers-in- law; The succession owes Pierre Clouatre for the amount of the purchase of the plantation. Letter dated August 13, 1793 Written by Anselme Blanchard, father of the deceased, to the Commandant Nicolas DeVerbois, stating that he is in charge of all the affairs of the deceased, also in charge of affairs of interest with others, and that he would not do any harm to the widow of the deceased, and that he hoped that the Commandant would not be in doubt as to his actions. Date: July 23, 1793 By order of Governor General dated June 28, past, Pierre Clouatre, grand- father of the minors, has been questioned as to the sale of animals, etc. belonging to the succession of Jerome Blanchard. Date: July 28, 1793 By order of the decree of Governor General dated June 28, past, Interrogatory by the Commandant of Antoine Blanchard, brother of the deceased, declared that he and Pierre Clouatre were going to sell the animals and other effects belonging to the deceased, and, in fact, did sell the same, as he was charged to sell them, by his father, Anselme Blanchard. That he sold some horned cattle to Rene Renault, and that Pierre Clouatre did not object to the sale. And other interrogatories. Date: July 29, 1793 Before the Commandant, appears Charles Landry, who has been called by him, to answer about conditions of the sale of objects belonging to the sucn. to divers persons. And he Pierre Clouatre were going to sell the animals and other effects belonging to the deceased and, in fact, did sell the same, as he was charged to sell them, by his father, Anselme Blanchard. That he sold some horned cattle to Rene Renault, and that Pierre Clouatre did not object to the sale. And other interrogatories. Date: July 29, 1793 Before the Commandant, appears Joseph Clouatre, who has declared that some time ago, before the Commandant had given order to Pierre Clouatre to bring account of the effects and animals sold, belonging to the late Jerome Blanchard, he had purchased by private sale of Mr. Pierre Clouatre, his brother, Joseph Mollere and Widow Jerome Blanchard, a horse, as belonging to the sucn. of the decd. Date: July 30, 1793 The Commandant has called before him, Francois Marionneau, who takes oath to tell the truth, has declared that Pierre Clouatre, Antoine Blanchard and Joseph Mollere had offered him a chance to buy some objects belonging to the sucn. of the said Jerome Blanchard. After which, the said Marionneau mentioned that he had appraised the property conjointly with Joseph Orillion on May 21, past, and which the widow and her father, Pierre Clouatre, declared belonged to the deceased, that it was to his knowledge that the plantation adjacent to Pierre Clouatre and to the declarer belonged to Jerome Blanchard for having been purchased from Pierre Clouatre about two years ago; that at the time of the inventory, the property was placed in charge of the widow of the deceased and of Pierre Clouatre. Date: July 30, 1793 Appeared Joseph Orillon, Sr. before the Commandant, as the Information continues, who declares that he knew of a sale made of the property of the deceased, consisting of different articles, the sale made by Pierre Clouatre, Joseph Mollere and Antoine Blanchard. That he is cognizant of the fact the deceased had purchased of Pierre Clouatre, his father-in-law, about two years ago, the plantation on which he died, adjacent above to Francois Marionneau and below to a land belonging to the said Pierre Clouatre. Date: July 30, 1793 Appeared before the Commandant, Paul Richard who declared that he had seen a sale of articles to Joseph Mollere, and that is is to his knowledge that animals were sold to Rene Renault, after the inventory had been made.
