Date: December 2, 1791 Inventory - Succession of Joseph Marie Braud At request of Elaine Marie Amelton, widow of Joseph Marie Braud. Named the following: Tutrix- their mother, Eleine Marie Amelton and under-tutor Charles Braud, their paternal uncle. Property: A plantation situated on the right bank of the Mississippi river, containing about six arpents of front on the ordinary depth of forty arpents, in the meantime, narrowing in the depth to three degrees, which belongs to the succession for having been purchased by the late Joseph Marie Braud of Pierre Leblanc; the buildings, enclosures; adjacent above to the lands of Joseph Amelton and below to those of Paul Marie Landry. On this said land there are five square aprents, the use of which belongs to Marie Joseph Landry, widow of Joseph Braud, mother of the said Joseph Marie Braud and this is to be inventoried only in the case that the she desires it to be inventoried and sold by the diwo of her late son, and the latter paying her the value of the said five square arpents. And in consequence, they proceeded with the estimation of the five square arpents, leaving from one of the points on the front of the said plantation. Whole inventory closed on December 22, 1791. Dated: December 24, 1791 Declaration - Appeared Marie Eleine Amelton, widow of Joseph Marie Braud assisted by Charles Braud, tutor of his minor brothers, and also tutor of the two minor children of Joseph Marie Braud; and Ignace Ameltwa, brother of the said widow, They declare they refuse appraisal as made. And therefore, order a sale to be made. Date: January 15, 1792 Public Sale - At the request of Marie Eleine Amelton, widow of Joseph Marie Braud, of Charles Braud, tutor of the minor children of the latter, as well as tutor of his minor brothers, and of Ignace Amelton. A plantation situated on the right bank of the Mississippi river containing about six arpents of front on the ordinary depth of forty arpents, narrowing in the meantime in the depth to three degrees, adjacent to Joseph Amelton and below to those of Paul Marie Braud, or more thereof, such is detailed in the inventory. Adjudicated to Igance Amelton, Surety - Joseph Amelton, his father. Date: April 17, 1793 Receipt - Commandant to Ignace Amelton, for receipt of the sum owed by the adjudication to him of the land, which sim was turned over to Widow Eleine Amelton who accepted same. Date: April 22, 1793 Receipt - Mrs. Marie Eleine Amelton, Widow by first marriage of Joseph Marie Braud and by second marriage of Firmain Landry to Commandant, Nicolas DeVerbois, for receipt of sum due to her and heirs from the succession sale.
