All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Crystal Devillier oneonone@cox.net December 11, 2006, 2:20 pm Source: Transcribed Court Document Written: October 16, 1795 Date: October 16, 1795 Appeared: Mrs. Magdelaine Forest, widow by first marriage, of Pierre Landry and now of Ignace Ebert, who declares that during her marriage with her first husband, there were born 2 children named Marie and Celeste which children are married; that on Sept. 25, 1781, an inventory of property dependent on said community was made and after sold on Nov. 12 following, after her refusal to accept said estimation, with the exception of the plantation which had been passed to her at price of the estimation, by the paternal relatives of the minors; that the marriage contract between her and Ignace Ebert was passed Nov. 25, there having been four children born of this marriage, named: Louis, Antoine, Manon and Raphael Ebert; that her 2nd husband died, without a will; and that it is to the interest of her minor children that the property be inventoried, and for this effect that a tutor be named. Date: October 17, 1795 At request of Mrs. Magdelaine Forest, widow by first marriage of Pierre Landry and now of Ignace Ebert. Succession of Ignace Ebert - Inventory - A plantation situated in this District on the right bank of the Mississippi river, adjacent above to the lands of Michel Lambremont and below to those of Joseph Marie Landry containing four arpents of front on the ordinary depth of forty, the buildings, enclosures which are thereon, in a word, such as it comprises and contains actually which belongs to the succession, for having been purchased of Joseph Landry and of Alexandre Landry about thirteen years ago. Appointed for tutor, Louis, Antoine, Manon and Raphael Ebert, minors, Mrs. Magdelaine Forest, their mother and for under-tutor, Jean Baptiste Ebert, their paternal uncle. Date: October 27, 1795 Appeared: Mrs. Magdelaine Forest, widow by first marriage of Pierre Landry and now of Ignace Ebert, in her name and in the name of mother and tutrix of her minor children, accompained by Jean Baptiste Ebert, their paternal uncle and under-tutor, who has declared that there are no debts of the sucn. of late Ignace Ebert except that of a certain sum for which she has received sum for the heirs of the late Morel, for their having received from the property of the late Clarie Rivet, their mother and step-mother. And on the same day, appeared Mrs. Magdelaine Forest, widow of Ignace Ebert, accompained by Jean Baptiste Ebert, under-tutor of minors, and their paternal uncle, who declares that she accepts the inventory, and she declares that she is debtor to the minors, Louis, Antoine, Manon and Raphael Ebert for certain sum which is to be paid at their age of majority, and for security, she mortgages the plantation which is found in the inventory.
