Succession of Elisabet Babin, widow of Taman Ebert

Declaration of Franco Rivas, Commandant of the District, that he will proceed 
to an inventory of the property left by Widow of deceased Taman Ebert.



Date: December 24, 1799
Declaration of Franco Rivas, Commandant, that on this day Syndic Amant Hebert 
delivered to him the authority of possession concerning the widow Elizabet 
Babin's decease.

Amant Hebert, syndic assisted by Pierre Hebert and Jean Laurent, Henry for the 
witnesses, go on the plantation and at the house of the deceased Elisabeth 
Babin widow of Amant Hebert, and according to the order given Amant Hebert by 
Rivas, Commandant, to affix the sales at the house of the said deceased widow 
Amant Hebert, have placed sales, there being minor heirs.

Legitimate heirs named Joseph, Eliza and Leocalde Ebert, minors. Appoint as 
Guardian for them, Diego Arnandez, their uncle by blood, and for appraisers, 
Amant Hebert and Maturin Landry.

Appeared Diego Arnandez, the Guardian of the minors of the deceased Amant 
Ebert and Elizabet Babin, who declares that he accepts his position and 
obligation.

The Commandant declares that considering the oaths of the Guardian of the 
minors, and the oaths of the appraisers, that the inventory would take place.

Presented to the heirs, various papers, concerning sales and purchased of 
their father and mother. Slaves. The present plantation situated in the 
referred District of Iberville on the right bank of the Mississippi river, 
composed of four arpents of front with the ordinary depth of forty, bounded on 
the upper part by lands of Simon Melanson and below by the plantation of 
Olivero Arnandez, the said plantation holds on all its front, six arpents of 
depth of land with felled wood and cultivable, with twenty-eight arpents of 
fence, good and bad, * * * which belongs to the succession for having been 
purchased by the deceased of Theodoro Rivet

Appears Diego Arnandez and Francisco Hebert, in capacity of Guardian and 
uncles of Joseph, Eliza, and Leocalde Ebert; who declare that it would be 
better to sell the property, for the said minors, the property coming to them 
at the death of Isavel Babin, their mother; that on January 26, of present 
year, inventory was made of the property; and Dn. Francisco Rivas hereby 
giving authority to have the property sold at public auction.

The present plantation situated in the referred District of Iberville on the 
right bank of the Mississippi river, composed of four arpents of front with 
the ordinary depth of forty, bounded on the upper part by lands of Simon 
Melanson and below by the plantation of Olivero Arnandez, which belongs to the 
succession for having been purchased by the deceased of Theodore Duga Rivet;
Adjudicated to the heir, Joseph Hebert, with the permission of his Guardian, 
Diego Arnandez and that of his uncle, Francisco Ebert. Surety, Thomas Ebert.




Date: September 28, 1800
Appear Joseph, Eliza and Leocaldia Hebert, brother and sister, of the deceased 
Isavel Babin and of Taman Hebert, who declare that they present themselves 
with the permission of their uncle Diego Arnandez, the person named Joseph 
Hebert, for curator ad lite, and the two sisters, Eliza and Leocaldia, to 
Olivero Arnandez, for their curator ad lite; which curators ad lite swear 
under oath to faithfully perform their duties.
