Francois Simeon Mathe - Request of Marie Rivas, widow of Francois Simeon Mathe, who declares that about eight months ago she married Mathe without having made marriage contract, that he died without making a will, that it is to the interest of her child to be born that an inventory of his property be made, in consequence, to establish a tutor for the child. Date: August 10, 1793 At request of Marie Rivas, widow of Francois Simeon Mathe, inventory is made. Commandant appoints as tutrix of child, Widow Mathe; in presence of Francois Rivas, Lieut of the Grenadiers of this province (relative maternally) A plantation situated in this District on the left bank of the Mississippi river, adjacent above to the lands of Victor Blanchard and below to those of Paul Babin, containing eight arpents, five toises of front ondinary depth of forty arpents, opening in the said depth to twelve degrees, as it is confirmed by the survey which is at the head of the titles of concession accorded by the Government to the late Firmain Landry on the date of the fifth of February one thousand seven hundred seventy-five; the buildings, enclosures which might be thereon, in a word, such as the said plantation comprises and contains at present, which belongs to the succession for having been acquired by the deceased at the auction sale of the property of the said late Firmain Landry, deposited in the archives on the date of twenty-ninth of October of the year past one thousand seven hundred ninety-two, as well as the cypress trees and the oaks which are on an arpent of cypress trees situated on resident of this post and that of Mister Joseph Barquer Vahamonde. Adjudicated to Mrs. Marie Rivas, widow of Francois Simeon Mathe Date: March 20, 1794 Appeared Mrs. Marie Rivas, widow of Francois Simeon Mathe, in her name and as mother and tutrix of her minor daughter, who has declared that by act passed on August 11, of past year, deposited in the archives of this Commandant, by which it is confirmed the refusal that she had made and made always to accept the amount of the inventory of the tenth of the same month at the price of the estimation; she petitons me to order the sale of the remaining of the objects inventoried, to such day, clauses and conditions as I think convenient and most advantageous to the interst of her minor.
