Mortgage - Jean Baptiste Alain to Father Bernard de Limpach

Alain acknowledges that he has to deposit and is debtor for a certain sum 
belonging to the collection of this parish and coming from sale of land and 
cypress trees which was made by order given by Dn Fray Cirille of Barsalona, 
Bishop of Nicalie and Auxiliary of Havana, on October 21, 1784, which sum was 
designated by him and the inhabitants of this District for purchase of negro 
servants for the Priest, but the Priest refused to get the servants. 
For payment of the said sum, Alain mortgages:
His plantation situated in this District on the left bank of the Mississippi 
river between those of Messrs. Firmin Blanchard and Josephe Leblanc, 
containing eight arpents of front and the ordinary depth which belongs to him 
for having been purchased from the late Bonavanture Foret about sixteen years 
ago.
