Mortgage - Luis Judice to Evan Jones 
Luis Judice declared that he owed certain sum to Evan Jones, for his fourth 
part, in the suits against him, Dn Miguel Judice, his son, Dn Carlos Duriblon 
Peytavin and Juan Bessier, for damages to the corn field of Evan Jones, by the 
waters of the Mississippi river, caused to flow by the working done on the 
levee of his land and that of Dn Miguel Judice, Dn Carlos Duriblon Peytavin 
and Juan Bessier; confirmed damages by authority dated February 22, 1798, by 
Dn Manuel Gayose de Lemos, Governor General who presided at court, etc. I 
(Luis Judice) have paid him for my part by delivering him an obligation which 
I had against Rene Arnaud and for the remainder of the sum owed to him, I 
mortgaged with special mortgage:
A plantation of my property situated in the said District on the right bank of 
the Mississippi river, composed of ten arpents and twenty-five toises of front 
with the depth which corresponds to it, bounded below by Bayou Lefourche and 
above by lands of Dn Miguel Judice, which was possessed by concession with its 
dependencies, with my three slaves, etc.
