All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Crystal Devillier oneonone@cox.net December 16, 2006, 9:24 pm Written: August 29, 1793 Date: August 29, 1793 Sale - Mrs. Marie Rivas, widow of Francois Simeon Mathe To Pierre Isidor Blanchard and Hypolite Landry, the latter a minor and authorized by Paul Mary Landry, his tutor A plantation situated in this District on the left bank of the Mississippi river, adjacent above to the lands of Victor Blanchard and below to that of Paul Babin containing eight arpents five toises of front on the ordinary depth of forty arpents, opening in the said depth at tweleve degrees, according to as it is confirmed by the title of concession, accorded to the late Firmain Landry by the Government of this province on the date of the 5th of February of the year one thousand seven hundred seventy-five; which has been remitted to the purchasers; selling also the buildings, enclosures, which might be thereon the said plantation, in a word, such as this might comprise and contain; with the reserve of the crop which is standing on the same; selling also the cypress trees and the oaks which are on an arpent of cypress grove situated in this same District, on the land belonging to Mr. Joseph LeBlanc called Adoux taking between that of Theodor Duga, resident of this Post and that of Mr. Joseph Barquer Vahamonde; with the exception of the quantity of 15 cypress trees which the lady vendress reserves taking and choosing in the said cypress grove when necessary, and as long as Mr. Francois Rivas her father will be possessor of the plantation which he has in this Post; after that, the lady widow will not have any right to clain thereon. The said plantation belonging to her as well as the cypresses and the oaks of the arpent of cypress grove for having been acquired by her late husband at the auction of the property of the deceased Firmain Landry on the date of the past year, 1792, in the archives of this Commandant. The purchasers promising to pay certain sum which had been due at the auction of the property of the decd. Firmain Landry, the sum becoming due next year, in hands of Paul Mary Landry, tutor of the minor children of the latter and to the acquittance of the Widow Mathe, for payment of the like sum which the sucn. of her late husband owed to that of Firmain Landry for the purchase of this same plantation. The purchasers give as Surety for this purchase: Joseph Richard and Paul Mary Landry. And Paul Mary Landry, gives entire acquittance to the Succession of Francois Simeon Mathe, also to Francois Rivas who was Surety for Mathe; Firmain Landry, decd. having been brother to said Paul Mary Landry.
