(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, August 21, 1880, page 3 Died. - ARMITAGE. - At his father's residence in Iberville parish, La., August 16, 1880, at 8:15 P. M., John Austin, youngest son of Mary M. Guedry and James P. Armitage, aged 11 years and 17 days. "Things we prize are first to vanish, hearts we love too pass away," was never more forcibly exemplified than in the present instance. The light, the joy, the pride of a household has been swept away. Silent and still the halls; cheerless and sad the home; the sweet little voice with pathetic harmony is hushed for aye; darkness rules and sorrow reigns. But from the depths of the sorrowing hearts springs the consoling assurance that the dear departed rests contentedly in the Savior's arms, one of the glorified and exalted, joyous lambkin of Christ's immortal fold. Yet -- "We sigh for the touch of a varnished hand, And the sound of a voice that is still." - H.A. W.
