My dad had said he had heard that Cicero was a Captain, but on his records that I got it said Sergeant.Sometimes they were appointed Captain for a short time is what I have heard. Some of his pay was signed by Major Robert McKay, and in the National Geographic book that I have on the Civil War it says that when he was killed near the end of the war his body servant traveled by night and slept by day to take his sash and personal things home to his family.
