Jones left Tuesday evening for Baton Rouge to confer with theGovernor relative to trying to devise means whereby the farmer boys whohave crops started may procure a permit to remain at home and out of thearmy long enough (say 60 days) to finish their crops. There is no laborto be had and if they are forced to go now the entire expense on these crops to date would be a total loss.
