NEWS-STAR January 13, 1935 Man is Injured When Truck Strikes Another Riding on the bed of a wood truck with his legs hanging over the side of the bed. T.J. Hinton, 47, resident of the old Monroe-Columbia road west of the Ouachita river, suffered compound fractures of both legs last night when a CCC truck of the Chatham camp was said to have "sideswiped" his legs. Brought here to St Francis sanitarium, Hinton was also suffering from hemorrhages, it was stated. Later in the night his condition was reported favorable. George Hinton, brother of the injured man, said that at the time of the accident he was riding on the driver's seat with Luther Morris driving, and that a CCC truck traveling at a fast rate "sideswiped" his brother's legs and did not stop after the accident. A medical officer of the Chatham CCC camp told police at the sanitarium that he was riding on the CCC truck at the same time of the accident, but that he was not aware it had occurred.
