Jones left Tuesday evening for Baton Rouge to confer with the Governor relative to trying to devise means whereby the farmer boys who have crops started may procure a permit to remain at home and out of the army long enough (say 60 days) to finish their crops. There is no labor to be had and if they are forced to go now the entire expense on these crops to date would be a total loss.
