On the 3rd instant, Mr. Phillip McClendon was killed by his brother-in-law, Mr. Gentry, at the Zeigler old place, where deceased lived, in Jackson parish, near the Indian Village. The report we get is to the effect that there had been bad feelings between the parties for some time. On the day mentioned, deceased and his brother, and Gentry and his brother, met at deceased’s house. Angry words passed, but the matter was amicably settled. Gentry and his brother, some time after, returned, one with a shot-gun. The trouble was renewed, when one of the Gentrys started into McClendon’s house and persisted in entering, although McClendon warned him not to enter. Gentry was shot by McClendon with squirrel shot in the shoulder. The other Gentry then shot McClendon with buck-shot, the shot killing him almost instantly. The two Gentrys left and have not been arrested. All the parties concerned in this sad affair were young white men. # # #
