Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Pearce of Mangum will spend their seventy-first Christmas together. Married since 1867, they have never been separated on Christmas. Before their marriage they were together several times on Christmas, for they were reared on neighboring farms in Jackson Parish, La. They were married at the home of the bride's mother in Spring Hill community, Jackson Parish, on Oct. 8, 1867. They moved to Texas in 1876, locating in Limestone County, where they lived for thirty years. In 1906 they moved to Coleman County, staying there until they moved to Eldorado, Okla. Six years ago, they came to Mangum to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Simmons. Mr. and Mrs. Pearce became the parents of six children, all of whom are living. Their oldest son, D. E. Pearce of Texico, N. M., observed his seventieth birthday anniversary on Dec. 16. The other children are Mrs. Annie Taylor of Santa Anna, Mrs. Ada Simmons of Mangum, G. A. Pearce of Waco, Lee Pearce of Groesbeck and Mrs. Mabel Lou Yeager of Strawn. There are eleven living grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Pearce is the only surviving veteran of the Civil War now living in Greer County. He served as a scout in the Confederate Army of Gen. E. Kirby Smith. =====
