S. Prohibition Officer Aids Sheriff In Drive Against Bootleggers T. C. Halbrook, Federal Prohibition agent with headquarters at Alexandria, aided by Sheriff Thomas, arrested fourteen alleged violators of prohibition statutes, placing a number of them in jail, Friday. Five of the men pled guilty in District Court Monday and were sentenced to pay a fine of $150 and serve a 30 days in jail. Following are the proceedings of District Court: State vs. Covington; Charged selling liquor; Pled guilty,sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay a fine of $150 and cost, default, 6 months in jail. State vs. Ott Head; Charged with disturbing peace; Pled guilty, sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay a fine of $25.00. Default 30 days in jail. State vs. Lester Cobett; Charged selling liquor; Pled guilty, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $150 and cost. Default 6 months in jail. State vs. George Bryant; Charged with selling liquor; Pled guilty, sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay a fine of $150 and cost. Default, 6 months in jail. State vs. Calvin Rasberry; charged with selling liquor; pled guilty, sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay a fine of $150 and cost. Default 6 months in jail. State vs. L. D. Fuller, charged bad check; Pled guilty, sentenced to pay fine of $10.00 and cost. Default, 20 days in jail. State vs. Wesley Fuller, charged, bad check; Pled guilty, sentenced to pay a fine of $10.00 and cost. Default 30 days in jail. State vs. Mack Norred, charged Larceny; Found guilty, Sentenced to absolute inprisonment to the Parish Jail of a period of 8 months.
