Stran Custis, Esq., for many years the editor and proprietor of the Claiborne "Advocate". Feeling an interest in everything that belongs to old Jackson, aside from our very high regard for friend Custis, personally, we take pleasure in welcoming the new-comer to our table and wishing it the highest degree of success known to country newspapers. We are glad to see the Police Jury of that parish recognize the value of a parish paper by having its proceedings published in the "Louisianian". We shall regard with peculiar pleasure the weekly arrivals of our Jackson contemporary, hailing as it does from the midst of a people whom we love and amongst whom we were reared - whom we battled for in times past and some of whom battled us, especially when we fought single-handed the war for Douglas against Breckinridge - for nationality and peace as opposed to sectionalism and war.
