Jackson Independent March 16, 1951 Funeral services for H. F. Adcock, 78, were held Thursday March 8 at 2 p.m. at the Quitman Methodist Church with the Rev. W. R. Akin of Sibley, Rev. J. E. Callaway of Hodge, and Rev. J. J. Pace of Quitman conducting the services. Interment was in the Quitman Cemetery under the direction of Darby’s Funeral Home of Ruston with grave side rites conducted by Jonesboro Masonic Lodge. The deceased was born in Union Parish July 3, 1872 near Spearsville and moved to Jackson Parish in 1901. He became a Christian in early life and was a member of the Baptist church. He was a faithful worker for the Lord’s work until his death. Mr. Adcock died March 6, 1951 of a heart attack, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. W. Denton of Quitman. The deceased is survived by eight children, five daughters, Mrs. W. W. Denton, Mrs. H. G. Watts of Quitman; Mrs. M. A. Knotts of Ruston; Miss Mary Adcock of Gorham, Ill., Mrs. J. F. Moore of Stephens, Ark., three sons, Berson of Ft. Worth, Texas; Sherwood and Cedsy of Chatham, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dawson Barr, C. M. Quaid, Shotie Stevenson, Artie Meyers, John Henry Barnes and E. L. Hargrove.
