All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http:/www.usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************ Adkins, Jessie August 11, 1988 Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Burns Adkins, age 82, of Shongaloo, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday August 2, 1988 in Mount Paran Baptist Church where she was a member. Rev. Ronnie Whitlock and Rev. Major Lee Lewis conducted the services. Burial was in the Old Shongaloo cemetery with the Order of Eastern Star graveside rites. Burial was under the directions of Bailey Funeral Home of Springhill. Mrs. Adkins was a native and lifelong resident of Shongaloo, passed away Sunday July 31 in Springhill after a short illness. She was a homemaker and licensed cosmetologist, a member and past worthy matron of Shongaloo Chapter No. 177 OES. Mrs. Adkins proceeded in death by her husband P. V. Adkins in 1963, her father Isaac Lee Burns in 1950 and her mother Bonnie Belle Boucher Burns in 1973, also two brothers, Leroy Burns in 1930 and A. J. Burns in 1976. Survivors include four brothers, Joe D. Burns of Jonesboro, Pleasant Burns of Shongaloo, Holland H. Burns of Taylor, Ark., and Robert C. Burns of Springhill; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Burns Bailey of Springhill, Mrs. Willie Dee Burns McEachern of Shongaloo and Mrs. Margaret Ann Burs Cooley of Choudrant; a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Robert C. Burns Jr., Walter F. Bailey, Karrye Burns, Henry Burns, George R. McEachern, James Michael Burns, Bobbye Ben Taylor and Ronnie L. Burns.
