Hankins, age 65 of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his residence in Jonesboro following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hankins,a native of Lake Providence, La. and a former resident of Jonesboro, had retired as a supervisor with General Motors. Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home in Jonesboro Friday, December 8, 2006 from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel 11:00 AM Saturday, December 9, 2006 with Reverend Gene Hall officiating. Mr. Hankins was preceded in death by his parents, Basil S. Hankins and Vera Slaughter Hankins and a brother Leon Hankins. He is survived by a daughter, Tammie Mathiesen and husband John of Roseville, MI; son, Steven Hankins and wife Christy of Berryville, AR; sister, Gloria Hammons and husband David of Jonesboro; grandson Bryan Chaney and a host of other relatives and friends. ===== Velma Mae McGrew Waggoner (November 22, 1916 - December 7, 2006) Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro Mrs. Velma Mae McGrew Waggoner, age 90 of Eros, died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Glenwood Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Waggoner was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, near Eros, from 4:00 PM until time of service Sunday. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2006 at 2:00 PM in Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Brother Jerry Fleming, Brother Larry Eubanks and Brother Mike Devallier officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Waggoner was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella Hargrove McGrew; brothers, Jesse McGrew, Alvin McGrew, George McGrew, J.W. (Buggan) McGrew, Jr.; sisters Elmer Wink and Nodie Belle Willis. She is survived by two daughters, Marie Varner and husband Harvey of Eros and Norma Massey and husband David of West Monroe; daughter- in-law, Margaret Waggoner of Eros; brother, Aussie Lee McGrew of Eros; sister, Lou Ella Buckner of Kennard, Texas; grandchildren, Ken Massey, Ronnie Massey, Pat Magee, Connie Carr, Glenn Varner, Chris Waggoner and Kim Wickham; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Collinsworth was a native of Bienville having been born to the late Robert Benson Thomas and Francis Jane Strickland Thomas.
