Services were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, in Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E. D. Morris and Rev. Hugh Hannah officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mr. Hanes was a longtime resident of Jackson Parish and a member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was also retired form the Continental Can Company. Mr. and Mrs. Hanes were married for nearly 60 years. Survivors include his wife, Edna Grissom Hanes of Quitman; three sons, Danny Hanes and Jerry Hanes and wife, Charlotte, all of Quitman, and Elmer Hanes and wife, Diane, of Jonesboro; four sisters, Trudy Land of Campti, Ruby Terral of Alexandria, and Elsie Riffe and Estelle Walker of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clif Shows, Todd Garrett, Johnny Lowe, Claude McMillan, Billy Mize, and Steven Garrett.
